About
The Oliver Press
The Oliver Press began publishing books back in 1992, from a small house in south Minneapolis that had been built in 1901. We moved to the suburbs and into much bigger quarters, about 15,000 square feet, in 1995.

Our focus was on history, and the titles we published attempted to bring to young readers an understanding of times past through the lens of biography. While we started out with collective biographies, we eventually broadened our non-fiction themes to include art, geography, and science.

Our customers, mainly school librarians, liked what we had to offer, as our titles consistently earned widespread praise, with favorable reviews the norm. When around the year 2000 our sales representatives told us they wanted more good books to sell than our small staff could publish while maintaining our standards, we began to add those of other high-quality publishers to go along with our own.

That's how our distribution business came into being. Now, in representing the lists of more than two dozen publishing companies who collectively offer tens of thousands of books, we provide librarians with thorough, wide-ranging choices of both fiction and non-fiction titles for all elementary and secondary grades.

Our commitment to offering exceptional books, along with knowledgeable, dedicated customer service, remains today as it has for nearly three decades.

If you have done business with The Oliver Press, we look forward to serving you again. If not, please try us. Your satisfaction is our guarantee.
